iii. Rubeotic glaucoma: recognition, differential diagnosis and management.

iv. Hypotensive agents: topical and systemic drugs affecting intraocular pressure and their complications.

v. Glaucoma drainage surgery: indications, complications and their treatment.

vi. Hypotony: including its causes and consequences.

vii. Liaison: with glaucoma shared care schemes.

Practical skills:
To have undertaken (under supervision until proficient) the following:

i. Applanation tonometry.

ii. Assessment of peripheral and central anterior chamber depth including pachometry.

iii. Assessment of irido-corneal angle structures by gonioscopy.

iv. Methods of optic disc cup measurement.

v. Visual field testing, including Goldmann/kinetic perimetry and automated/static perimetry.

Background theory/principles:
To have gained an awareness of the following:

i. Risk factors for primary open-angle and normal-tension glaucoma.

ii. Other secondary glaucomas, including phacolytic, pigmentary, erythroclastic,
pseudoexfoliative and silicone-oil glaucomas.

iii. Posner Schlossman syndrome.

iv. Chronic closed angle glaucoma.

v. Malignant glaucoma.

vi. Tonopen, Perkins and non-contact tonometry.

vii. Scanning laser ophthalmoscopy and nerve fibre layer analysis.

viii. Argon laser trabeculoplasty.

ix. Prevention of glaucoma bleb failure e.g. using anti-metabolites

x. Drainage tubes and stents.

xi. Cycloablation.
